Dear Super Human,

Dear Super Human,

I have an antidote to your exhaustion, stress and fatigue.

It rained all night, and now, Monday morning, I pull into the parking lot for a 12-hour shift in the middle of flu season. It will be a busy day. Tired already after working the weekend, I drag myself out of the car. I turn to grab my coffee and realize I left it on the counter at home. One foot is toes deep in a puddle. Sick people wait for me. I’m not sure I have it in me to care for them the way I want to. I grab my bag, grab lunch, turn and see her. She is there, lying there in the parking lot. A doll, face down, wet, with a red cape. She’s sunk in a puddle and not near floating. I stop dead in my tracks.

“OMG,” I think, “this is it, this doll is the image of burnout!” This soppy doll is what it feels like! She has no energy, her cape is disheveled, she’s wet, alone, and wondering how she got here!

I am this doll, in a puddle-sunk, feeling apathetic, exhausted, half cape-naked. But into the day I go acting as if I am fine and can do it all.

You know the feeling. You have done that too, I am sure. You pull yourself together, put your smile on and just get it done.

This is burnout. This is caregiver exhaustion. This is compassion fatigue. And I can tell you: it doesn’t have to be this way. There is an antidote.

Just getting it done and being “fine” is not enough. Not at the expense of feeling what used to be our passion, and our dreams.

You are not alone and together we can re-discover your energy, passion and compassion.

Join the antidote revolution and we will get your cape back where it belongs! Learn the four steps that will be the antidote to your joy. We will work to acknowledge your experience, engage in the powerful process to name your superpowers, start to teach your mind new habits and learn to illuminate your courage.

You invest in others every day. Consider this the time to invest in you!
